Mark earned his MBA from Columbia University and began his career with CBS followed by 15 years on the sell-side as an high yield analyst covering the telecom, media and technology ("TMT") sectors.  During his sell-side career at Lehman, TD Securities and DLJ/CSFB, Mark was consistently ranked as a leading analyst by Institutional Investor and also served as Head or Co-Head of Research at each firm.

In 2002, Mark formed Grotevant Research Partners to provide independent, proprietary research to institutions including banks, credit and equity hedge funds, private equity and distressed asset investors as well as corporate clients.  In 2018, the firm was rebranded as Grotevant Impact Advisors to underscore its intensified focus on disruption and sustainability.

In 2015, Mark completed postgraduate coursework at Columbia University in energy markets, building energy efficiency, climate science, carbon markets and environmental policy, attaining Advanced Certification in Sustainability Analytics.
